Gothic of the Frozen North

If the South can have a Gothic, and according to the Merriam-Webster Encyclopedia of Literature, it does, why can't Minnesota have one? Garrison Keillor has been pushing life in Minnesota on the radio for years and has won I don't know how many Peabody awards. And what's the South got? Good cooking and lots of bass-fishing shows on public television.

We've got it all over the South, fishing, food, crazy relatives, the weather. It's just that we have our own ways of doing things. The South makes a big deal of having a crazy aunt in the attic; in Minnesota, she'd be downstairs serving supper in the kitchen.
